I've never worn a ring before and this is weird. It's a lot bigger than I expected it to be, though looks pretty damn good for only $100. Just to put that into perspective, some kids spent up to $1500 or more. These are the kids that drive new Acuras and Hummer H3s.

Though I am insanely jealous of the girl with the H3 because I love H3s.

Exactly. There was a silly tradition to have your ring spun on your finger by your classmates. One time for each year in your graduation class. 2014 = 14 times. 1999 = 99 times.

I think I took mine off as soon as I got home after the last spin.

Graduating HS is something to be proud of until September.

Somehow they actually found a leftover 2011 that has never been bought. It has 5 miles on it when the bought it apparently. I have NO IDEA how it happened.

I had my class ring melted down and made into my wedding band, since my wife and I met in highschool. I got money back too from the extra gold!

The class ring thing was a bit of a pain. Our school went through Jostens, who says that an October birthstone was rose zircon. So I had a ring with a pink stone.

They don't even make mine anymore, the closest to mine is the A13. Except mine was around $100, and the A13 is $254.

I outgrew it, and I don't even know where it is anymore.

then its wow i opted for 4 more years (or more) of this. it wasn;t until grad school that I actually enjoyed school. it was the only time every single person was there to go to school and not be the frat bro, the partier, the jock, the classic stoner or what ever other college cliche you can come up with,

My school used Jostens. I just got my school gem stone which is green. Mine is whatever the cheapest one they sell is, I wasn't about to let my mom spend any more than the bare minimum for it.

It could be that it's that weird beige color GM put on their trucks and SUVs, chrome wheels, black leather with grey piping. It's a weird color combo.

yeah, but between a ring I don't care about and say a car part, I think the parents could be convinced. I've never been one for making my parents pay for things unless they were strictly a school necessity. I spent my money on my camera gear and other toys, they paid for school. It worked out. I have some really nice toys because of it.

Somehow, I don't think they are spending their own money. FWIW, I never got a class ring, for HS or any of the three colleges I went to. I was so done with HS, I wanted nothing to remind me of it.

My school didn't have a school gem stone selected. Though if they did, it probably would've been blue.

Back in my day (Class of '03... Jesus Christ I'm old), they had two styles at the "cheap bastard" level - an oval stone and a rectangular stone. I went with the rectangular.

I'm glad you liked your HS. It's a big time of one's life. I was just very much ready to move on. In fact, I came out of HS without a single lifelong friend. I met those later. Unless you count my wife. We went to the same school, but were two years apart. I ran with the jeans-jacket-pot-smoking crowd, and she ran with the Izod-shirts-preppie crowd. We didn't really meet until college.

I never bought one. I didn't really need something to remind me of high school. I would talk to people I graduated with if I wanted to. For the most part, I haven't wanted to.

I personally had a great high school experience, but I didn't necessarily feel the need to purchase something to commemorate my school or anything.

Mine wasn't awful, but it wasn't great. I still keep in touch with a couple of people. But I never saw the point in having a big gaudy ring advertising you went to a small school nobody has heard of, except the one time they made national news when a football player shoved a cookie up a freshman's ass.
